Unity?

by William Skink

Escaping the cult

Recently I read that Sally Field is using adjectives like “brilliant” and “miraculous” to promote Hillary Clinton. The actor and I agree. War enthusiast HRC brilliantly and miraculously uses the vagina card to firmly hold onto mostly older female and male feminists. War orgasmic Clinton has brilliantly and miraculously convinced a significant number of voters that she’ll work on their behalf, not Wall Street’s.

Democrats are now the aggressive war party

But the larger picture for the Democrats is that they have just adopted an extraordinary historical reversal whether they understand it or not. They have replaced the Republicans as the party of aggressive war, though clearly many Republicans still dance to the neocon drummer just as Clinton and “liberal interventionists” do. Still, Donald Trump, for all his faults, has adopted a relatively peaceful point of view, especially in the Mideast and with Russia.

While today many Democrats are congratulating themselves for becoming the first major party to make a woman the presumptive nominee, they may soon have to decide whether that distinction justifies putting an aggressive war hawk in the White House. In a way, the issue is an old one for Democrats, whether “identity politics” or anti-war policies are more important.

How Clinton donor got on sensitive intelligence board

Newly released State Department emails help reveal how a major Clinton Foundation donor was placed on a sensitive government intelligence advisory board even though he had no obvious experience in the field, a decision that appeared to baffle the department’s professional staff.

The emails further reveal how, after inquiries from ABC News, the Clinton staff sought to “protect the name” of the Secretary, “stall” the ABC News reporter and ultimately accept the resignation of the donor just two days later.

Hillary’s victory and next to last hurrah

Everybody knew that the awful day would come when the Queen of Chaos, the Empress of Ineptitude, would become the Democratic Party’s “presumptive” nominee.

It did last Tuesday. Wall Streeters, Cold Warriors, “humanitarian” interveners, Zionist settler supporters, and other assorted miscreants can now rejoice!

Add to that list those who think that, at last, little girls can grow up thinking that the “glass ceiling” is gone – as if it wasn’t already by 1984, when Walter Mondale selected Geraldine Ferraro to run as his Vice President.

Even the most retrograde right-wingers understand this: how else to explain the Sarah Palin cult? It is only liberal ladies of a certain age that are married to their nonsense.

In truth, Hillary’s problem has never been that she is a woman; it is that she is the woman she is.

But compelling evidence and sound arguments are useless in the face of ideologically fixed ideas; and so, the Gloria Steinem types are happy too. However, for everyone whose moral compass is sound and whose head is screwed on right, this final “super Tuesday” was, and always will be, a day of infamy.

Take your unity, Democrats, and put where the sun don’t shine.

I guess I’ll pile on here. Lot’s of depressing reading in the wake of Clinton’s “victory” in California.

War Party Leader Obama Endorses War Goddess Clinton — by Stephen Lendman

Obama, Clinton and bipartisan neocons infesting Washington explain the deplorable state of America today – a democracy in name only, enriching the privileged few at the expense of most others, waging endless wars on humanity, leaving its fate up for grabs.

Clinton was chosen Democrat party nominee last year before primary/caucus season began, assuring endless wars of aggression if elected, perhaps the madness of confronting Russia and China belligerently.

The possibility of her succeeding Obama should terrify everyone, heightening the risk of global war with super-weapons making WW II ones look like toys by comparison.

On Thursday, Obama made it official, endorsing Clinton for president, one war criminal supporting another, both wanting all challengers to US hegemony eliminated, planet earth colonized, its resources stolen, it people exploited as serfs.

After meeting with Sanders on Thursday, a video he recorded days earlier congratulated Clinton for “making history” – saying “I’m with her. I am fired up and I cannot wait to get out there and campaign for Hillary.”

“She’s got the courage, the compassion and the heart to get the job done. I have seen her judgment. I’ve seen her toughness. I’ve seen her commitment to our values up close…I don’t think there’s ever been someone so qualified to hold this office.”

Why Some of the Smartest Progressives I Know Will Vote for Trump over Hillary — By YVES SMITH

Even on Wall Street, a powerful Sanders contingent so hates what Clinton stands for—the status quo—they’ll pull the lever for almost anyone else.

Why do progressives reject Hillary Clinton? The highly educated, high-income, finance-literate readers of my website, Naked Capitalism, don’t just overwhelmingly favor Bernie Sanders. They also say “Hell no!” to Hillary Clinton to the degree that many say they would even vote for Donald Trump over her.

And they don’t come by these views casually. Their conclusions are the result of careful study of her record and her policy proposals. They believe the country can no longer endure the status quo that Clinton represents—one of crushing inequality, and an economy that is literally killing off the less fortunate—and any change will be better. One reader writes:

“If Clinton is the nominee 9 out of 10 friends I polled will [do one of three things]:

    A. Not vote for president in November.
    B. Vote for Trump.
    C. Write in Bernie as a protest vote.

“We are all fifty-somethings with money and college educations. Oh, and we are all registered Democrats.”

Or as another reader puts it:

“I don’t want to vote for Trump. I want to vote for Bernie. But I have reached the point where I feel like voting for Trump against Clinton would be doing my patriotic duty. … If the only way to escape a trap is to gnaw off my leg, I’d like to think I’d have the guts to do it.”

  4. Thank-you, thank-you! You should know that the Democratic Party Caucus in the Flathead was contentious, but we sent 6 Hillary delegates and 8 Bernie delegates to Helena today. Some are also committed to getting the Green Party on the ballot because eating asphalt is not a favorable option.

There has been a great deal of coercion and emotional bullying around Hillary’s presumed coronation. It is almost as if we were living in some kind of banana republic. The hard sell to give the berniecrats a bums rush makes me very uncomfortable. The establishment Democrats are violatinng all kinds of boundaries and it is not consentual.

In the meantime, watch day two of the Democratic Party platform drafting committee here: http://www.c-span.org/video/?410835-1/democratic-platform-drafting-committee-holds-second-day-hearings Let me know if you find a record of day one or anything after day two.

What is the best advise to the abused in the face of repeated authoritarian acts of disrespect and/or denial of individual freedom? Everyone learns for themselves, and must choose the kind of world they want for their children. Democrats are again faced with important choices. One can only hope a great number of them will choose wisely.
